The Legendary Delta Queen will have to stop overnight passenger travel if her exemption is not extended in 2008. The Delta Queen is a National Historic Landmark. She served our country in World War II. She hosted a President, a Princess and celebrities of stage and screen plus authors such as Alex Haley and Shelby Foote. However, most of all, she has delighted the thousands of passengers who have walked her decks. She is filled with Victorian elegance, decades of history and unforgettable charisma. For over 10 years, Phyllis Dale had the wonderful opportunity to perform as a singer/pianist on the Delta Queen, Mississippi Queen and American Queen. Since she has been in the travel business, she has escorted her groups and charters on all of Majestic America's vessels, cruising every itinerary the boats travel.
Her passion shows in one of the river songs she wrote while entertaining on the Delta Queen. "She's the Ohio" was recorded by Dave Para and Cathy Barton on their CD, "Living on the River". Another song she wrote is "On the River Mississippi". Phyllis says it's not hard to write a song about the river because the words just "flow" into your heart.
